Proposition 37, More Than a Yes or No Affair

In recent years there has been a major buzz about Genetically Modified foods or GMOs. These foods use non-natural means to produce food that can last longer and grow better than naturally grown foods. Many people have found a lot of problems with their food being grown this way, or more or less, not know which food is grown this way. This last election year, people all over California were asked to vote on Proposition 37 to help get rid of this problem.

If you missed all of the news about Proposition 37 then you might need to brush up on what's going on before the next election. Proposition 37 was put into place to make it against the law to seal a GMO product without labeling it so, or by labeling it natural. This would stop many people from consuming GMO foods because it would allow them to know exactly what was GMO and what was natural.

California did not vote this proposition into a law though. Like all other states in the country, food companies can market GMO foods as food that could be normal. This means that many people who don't want to consume these foods have to do a lot more research on what they consume. For many, the research is worth it, but many others feel like they should have the right to know what they are consuming from the beginning.

As voters educate themselves on the next set of propositions it might be important to take this Proposition into consideration. It doesn't matter if you approve or disapprove of GMO foods, this proposition is designed to help consumers know more about the products they are buying. No one wants to purchase fruit they believe is fresh only to find out that it's rotten when you get home. So consider Prop 37 to help make your fellow citizens rest easier.
